Bryan Singer back at the helm was a welcome sight.  And the spectacle in the movies was … well, spectacular.  But in a flick with so much eye-candy, a bigger ending would have been more satisfying.

Jackman, Fassbender, Sterwart, McAvoy–every freaking body was awesome, still bringing a crap-ton of energy to something that many actors might phone in at this point.  The script was tight, especially for a plot that had so many spinning plates.  And the Sentinel ideas were unique and interesting.
My only problem with the movie, really, was the ending.  I get the reason why Singer with with an anti-climax … in a time-travel story where the heroes are trying to prevent something from happening–instead of getting something TO happen–you kind of have to go that way.  Still, in a movie with so much spectacle, it would have been nice to see something in addition to Mystique slowly lowering her gun.  A bunch of Sentinels exploding, Magneto painfully getting some sort of epic comeuppance … just something.
All in all, a great flick though.  If you’re a fan of the first two X-Men films and First Class, check this movie out before it leaves theaters.  You won’t be sorry.
