Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Ascending had a unique set of problems that–over all–didn’t prevent it from being a pretty enjoyable popcorn flick.  And really those problems aren’t worth all the hate that seems to be chasing it.

The major problem is a protagonist in an action flick … that really doesn’t do a lot of action.  The action that is there is well-done, and Tatum–both the real and CGI version–brings his A-game.  But I kept wanting to see action that was a metaphor for the irony around Kunis’ character, not something that simply serves as a way to advance the plot.

Aside from Sean Bean playing a jerk … again, Jupiter Ascending does have some new, neat stuff to offer.  Check it out if you’re a fan of pulpy space adventure.
