Hansel and Gretel is campy fun that never shies away from what it is. People will either love or hate it, depending upon the way they feel about its modernized dialogue, gratuities gore, and over the top gadgetry. The additional help of the film’s tone, along with wonderfully appropriate performances by Renner, Arterton, and Janssen, helped sell me on a film that could have gone south quicker than a prom dress.

For those that haven’t heard, novelist and comic book writer Peter David suffered a stroke last month.  If you’ve ever thought about checking out his work, now would be a good time; I’m sure he and his family could use the support.  Here is a link to his Amazon page.

On a personal note, David has been one of the biggest influences on my writing, and it pains me to hear this news.  I wish him and his family the best during this difficult time.
